"A Day in Town" in Dimona

On December 4, Geneva Initiative spent the day in Dimona with high school students and their teachers and parents. The event was part of our "A Day in Town" events.
As part of the Geneva Initiative projects with local mayors, 11th and 12th grade high school students from Dimona had the opportunity to learn about and discuss the major issues surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A panel with Mayor of Dimona, Meir Cohen, Meretz Chairman, Haim Oron, former Chief Scientist of Education and Likud member, Dr. Gabi Avital, and Former Minister of Prisoner Affairs for the Palestinian Authority, gave students the full perspective of views and issues surrounding the future of Israeli and Palestinian relations.

Students also had the chance to learn first hand from Col (res.) Shaul Arieli, one of the foremost experts on Israeli-Palestinian political processes and the former head of the interim Agreement Administration under the Rabin government and head of the Peace Administration in the Barak government.
The event was a continuation of the joint seminars for local mayors from Palestinian and Israeli cities and was held in conjunction with the Mayor of Dimona, Meir Cohen. Following the success of the event, a tour of for school administrators along the security barrier in Jerusalem is being planned.
