"A Day in Town" in Netanya with Kadima Party

On December 22, the Geneva Initiative held an event at the Kadima branch in Netanya, with GI architect Dr. Yossi Beilin, prominent Palestinians, and Members of Knesset from Kadima. The panel took place as part of our "A Day in Town" program.
The event took place at the Kadima party offices in Netanya and was attended by over 70 members of Kadima. Speakers discussed the current political deadlock in negotiations and the relevancy of the Geneva Initiative as a tool for members of Knesset to use to push forward negotiations.

Member of Knesset Doron Avital, the former commander of an elite commando unit, spoke at the event and stated that "upheavals in the Arab World are not an excuse for political stagnation. Conflict with the Palestinians is the crux of the problem in Israel. This issue is tearing apart Israeli society and prevents us from taking care of our domestic problems."

Chairman of the Geneva Initiative, Dr. Yossi Beilin, spoke about the political deadlock and the danger it posees to Israel. Beilin called for a resumption of negotiations between the parties, even if only to create a temporary arrangement, within a framework that consists of a permanenet settlement - because standing still does not serve Israel's interests.
