49% of Palestinians prefer two-state solution

In a new poll by PCPSR sponsored by the Palestinian Peace Coalition and directed by leading Palestinian pollster Khalil Shikaki, 49% of Palestinians indicated their preference for the two-state solution, compared to only 13% support for a one-state solution with equal rights for Palestinians and Israelis and 11% support for a one-state solution with Palestinian rights comparable to those of Arab Israelis today. Support for a two-state solution increases to 58% under certain concessions, such as respect for international law and recognition of the suffering of Palestinian refugees.

The message is clear: the majority of Palestinians prefer the two-state solution, and there are concrete steps that can raise this support still higher.
