April NEC Poll: 63% of Palestinians support signing a peace agreement with Israel

The institute for research and survey “Near East Consulting” conducted a poll between April 22-27, 2010. The poll sampled 950 men and women from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The poll findings were published on the 1st of May in Al-Quds Newspaper.
 

With regard to the peace process, 63% of Palestinians support signing a peace agreement with Israel, whereas 37% oppose such an agreement. From Fatah supporters, 77% expressed their support to a peace agreement with Israel.
 
68% of Palestinians call Hamas to change its policy calling for Israel’s destruction, whereas 32% call Hamas to pursue this policy.
 
52% of Palestinians expressed their trust in President Abbas in comparison to Hamas leader Ismail Haniya (11%). 37% chose to not answer this question.
 
61% of Palestinians perceive Salam Fayyad’s government as the legitimate government, as opposed to 14% that consider Ismail Haniya’s government as the legitimate one.
