Briefing on Settlements for Russian Speakers

Briefing on Settlements for Russian Speakers

In June, Adv. Talia Sasson briefed a group of Russian speaking activists, bloggers and journalists about the settlements.

In the same week that a new poll by Ariel University showed a trend of decreasing support among the Israeli public for the settlers, we also dealt with the issue of settlements when a group of Russian speaking bloggers and journalists met with Adv. Talia Sasson, senior Geneva Initiative member and author of the Sasson report into illegal outposts, which was prepared at the request of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

After explaining the legal status of the settlements and the implications for Israel, Sasson talked about the current situation: "The status quo is not a static state of affairs, it moves, and at the moment it is moving in the wrong direction. The current status quo is like that before a war."
