Follow-up meeting for leading Shas and influential Palestinian women

On September 14, the Geneva Initiative hosted leading Shas-affiliated women and influential Palestinian women from religious and traditional communities for a workshop. This event was a follow-up session to a July seminar with the same constituency.

Under Geneva Initiative facilitation and guidance the women met to reflect on the three-day seminar they had participated in two months ago and to discuss developments and new perspectives.

The workshop which was held in Jerusalem began with uni-national meetings in which each of the sides discussed their experiences from the last joint seminar and their expectations from the upcoming joint meeting. The discussion on the Palestinian side was facilitated by Fadwa Al Shaer, an assistant to the Palestinian Authority Interior Minister Said Abu-Ali and the Israeli group was guided by Adv. Talia Sasson, author of the Sasson Report on settlements and illegal outposts commisisoned by former PM Sharon.

Following the separate meetings the 16 women met for a two-hour session in order to discuss developments and perspectives from each of the sides, search for common ground and conclude regarding future cooperation.
