Geneva Initiative Conference: Nearing the Tipping Point

On May 10th the Geneva Initiative held a public conference in Tel-Aviv that was attended by over a 150 people. The conference featured MK Tamar Zandberg, Chairwoman of Meretz, Elias Zananiri, Deputy Director of the Palestinian Committee for Interaction with the Israeli Society and Yossi Beilin, Chairperson of the Geneva Initiative in Israel.

The speakers addressed the various challenges and opportunities in the peace process, and spoke about the issue of opening a US embassy in Jerusalem, the Nakba day, the events on the border with Gaza and the risk of escalation. Zananiri, who shared with the audience the Palestinian perspective on the conflict and the peace process, said that "as long as there are people on both sides who believe that the only way to live peacefully is a two state solution and as long as we continue to meet and listen to each other, there is hope". MK MK Zandberg concluded the conference by saying that “the Geneva Initiative addresses all the core issues. It’s time to open this book and start implementing the solutions that they have reached 15 years ago”.
