GI attends 7th Peoples' UN Assembly

1-7/10/2007: GI representative attends the 7th Assembly of the Peoples’ UN in Italy

From October 1st to October 7th, Geneva Initiative Project Manager Elad Dunayevsky attended the 7th Assembly of the Peoples’ UN in and around Venice and Perugia in Italy.

Dunayevsky lectured before some 10 schools and 6 local councils in the Veneto region, along with a representative from the B'Tselem human rights organization and a Palestinian representative, the chairman of the Palestinian Union of Local Councils.

The lectures briefly touched on the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and presented an overview of the solution proposed by Geneva Initiative. About 200 students participated in each of the school lectures, and between 30 and 120 people participated in the local council lectures.

On the final days of the program, the representative attended the assembly itself in Perugia. The assembly addressed manners of promoting the political agenda of Human Rights, and was attended by hundreds of people coming from around the world (secular and religious figures, representatives of movements, trade unions, organizations and networks, both on a national and on an international level, local authorities and universities, research centers).
