23.07.2010 - 25.07.2010

Geneva Initiative Signatory and Former Israeli Minister and Politician Dr. Yossi Beilin spoke at the "FUNGLODE Forum for Peace", a conference hosted in the Dominican Republic by President Leonel Fernandez, which brought together participants including Israeli, Palestinian, and US political leaders. The Dominican President held the three day event because of his strong belief in the importance of ending the conflict in the Middle East stating, "We live in an era of globalization and the events that occur in one location affect the whole world. The peace or war in the Middle effects the world and, for this, the Dominican Republic has organized this event". The prime location of the Cap Cana resort served to create a comfortable and relaxed environment to facilitate conversation, debate, analysis, and reflection on topics and ideas effecting the conflict for better mutual understanding.

Dr. Yossi Beilin spoke about prospects for Middle East peace, distributing Geneva Accords, and referencing proposals offered in the GI. Also in attendance were Colette Avital, Former Israeli MK and Labor Party spokesperson; retired Israeli Maj. Gen. Danny Rothschild, President of the Council for Peace and Security, Assad Abdel Rahman, a member of the Central Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and US Democratic Congressman Robert Wexler, President of the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace.
