GI conference at TAU: The Security Establishment and the Political Process

Date: 08.12.2008

On Monday, December 8th, Geneva Initiative held a conference at Tel Aviv University on the security establishment's influence on political decision-making in Israel, specifically on the peace process.

70 people, most of them students, attended the conference, held in cooperation with the TAU Student Union as part of a political leadership course held this semester.

The conference included a screening of the documentary "A Million Bullets in October," about the decision-making process during the first weeks of the second Intifada and the army's vast influence on the government.

Following the screening, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Shlomo Gazit, Brig. Gen. (ret.) MK Amira Dotan, and Brig. Gen. (ret.) Shlomo Brom spoke to the audience about their own experience with the complex relationship between the army and the political establishment.
