GI Director General moderates YPO event in Jerusalem

19/05/2008: GI Director General Gadi Baltiansky moderates YPO event in Jerusalem
Date: 19.05.08

The Young Presidents' Organization invited Geneva Initiative Director General Gadi Baltiansky to moderate an event on the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace, held at the American Colony hotel in Jerusalem on May 19th.

YPO is an international organization with over 10,000 members in 80 countries, each of which is under the age of 55 and is the president of a business with at least $10 million in annual revenue. YPO's goal is to make better Presidents through education, with the belief its members can make a sizeable impact on the world and in the communities in which they work.

Some 55 Americans, 20 Israelis and 20 Palestinians attended the event, all of which are members (and their spouses) of the Young Presidents' Organization. The American YPO members and spouses were in Israel from May 14-21 for an intense week of cultural experience and education.

Mr Baltiansky moderated an event that brought together the Israeli, Palestinian, and California Coast Chapters to discuss the paths to and prospects for peace. What needs to happen? What is missing today which has prevented peace from blossoming since Oslo? What role must the United States play?

As part of the panel, several Israeli and Palestinian YPO members discussed the prospects for Peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Among the Israeli speakers were Erez Meltzer and Meir Arnon, and Bashar Massri, the Palestinian YPO Chapter Chair, was among the Palestinian representatives.
