GI holds seminar for members of Shas and the religious community of Labor

29-30/05/2008: GI holds seminar for members of Shas and the religious community of Labor
Date: 29.05.08

On Wednesday and Thursday, May 28th-29th, Geneva Initiative held a seminar for members of the Ultra-Orthodox Shas coalition party as well as members of the religious communities within the Labor Party and Kadima.

Some 50 people attended the seminar, among them 30 representatives of Shas, including a Member of Knesset, Avraham Michaeli.

The seminar began with a tour of the separation barrier in the Jerusalem envelope, guided by GI signatory Col. (Res.) Shaul Arieli. Arieli later lectured before the participation key issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Also on the agenda was a lecture by former Palestinian minister Qadoura Faris, a senior member of Fatah, who presented the conflict from a Palestinian perspective.

GI director general Gadi Baltiansky also spoke to participants, who later heard a panel discussion with GI co-architect MK Yossi Beilin and Shas MK Avraham Michaeli, moderated by Adv. David Glass.

The schedule allowed time for the participants' daily prayers and accommodated their additional religious needs.
