GI holds seminar for prominent women in Kibbutz Shfaim

11-12/01/2007: GI holds seminar for prominent women in Kibbutz Shfaim
Date: 11.01.08

On the weekend of January 11th-12th, Geneva Initiative hosted a 2-day seminar for prominent women in Israeli politics, including representatives from the Likud, Kadima, Labor, and Yisrael Beitenu parties.

Some 60 women attended the seminar, which began with a tour of the separation barrier around Jerusalem guided by Col. (Res.) Shaul Arieli.

During the two-day seminar, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz spoke to the women, and his comments received much attention in both Hebrew and Arabic-language media, and were even reported in Lebanese media.

Israeli press on the comments included primetime coverage on Channel 10 News and reference in the popular London & Kirshenbaum TV news magazine show.

Several reports on his comments are attached above as links. Although Geneva Initiative's views are not in line with Mofaz's statements, the seminar brought together different people from the entire political spectrum so as to present participants with the different alternatives.

Participants also heard a panel of leading women from Israeli politics and lectures by Palestinian GI signitory Prof. Nazmi El Jubeh and Col. (Res.) Shaul Arieli.

The seminar was held in Kibbutz Shfaim.
