25/03/2008: GI holds workshop on women's role in achieving civic peace
Date: 25.03.08

On Tuesday, March 25th, the Palestinian Peace Coalition held a workshop in Gaza City on the role of women in achieving civic peace.

70 women from various areas of the Gaza Strip attended the workshop, held in cooperation with the Youth Coalition Center.

Among the speakers at the event were Fatah PLC Member Ms. Najat Al-Astal and Political Analyst Mr. Yehya Rabah.

Ms. Al-Astal said Palestinian women have a big responsibility, along with the rest of the nation, to end the current internal division and political conflict.

She added that women play a great role in strengthening the principles of tolerance and civic peace in the society.

Mr. Rabah pointed out that Palestinian women are more politically active than men in terms of participation in the general and presidential elections.

Women represent more than half of Palestinian society, so they play a big role in choosing the leaders of the future through their participation in the electoral process.
