GI hosts debate for Israeli peace camp

10/07/2007: GI hosts internal debate for Israeli peace camp in Jerusalem

On July 10th, Geneva Initiative hosted a debate in Jerusalem for all peace and peace-related organizations in Israel. The discussion centered on lessons from the past and establishings future directions - further to 40 years of occupation and recent developments in the Palestinian arena.

The conference was held in Jerusalem (in Mishkanot Sha'ananim) and was attended by c.150 people - amongst them journalists, academicians, heads and members of a variety of peace organizations and representatives of international organizations.
Participants were addressed by Professor Tamar Herman, Dean of the Academic School at the Open University and researcher of peace movements; Adv. Tzali Reshef, from the founders of "Peace Now"; Mr. Uri Avneri, from the founders of "Gush Shalom" and Professor Yaron Ezrahi from the Hebrew University (School for Political Science).

The evening was facilitated by Ha'aretz reporter, Daniel Ben Simon.
