2/06/2007: GI Israeli-Palestinian Car Convoy and Peace Demonstration – Yes to an Agreement: The Geneva Initiative and the Arab League Initiative

On Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 Geneva Initiative held an event with the participation of 200 Israelis and Palestinians which included a car convoy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem and a demonstration at Mount Olives overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem.

Through this event Geneva Initiative marked 40 years of occupation which must end, as well as the urgency of bringing the official Israeli and Palestinian leaderships to the negotiations table further to the re-endorsement of the Arab League Initiative by 22 Arab States.

Immediately after the convoy, participants who gathered at Mount Olives were addressed by Israeli and Palestinian senior figures from the peace camps on both sides. These include Member of Parliament Jihad Abu Zneid (Fatah); Former PA Minister Kadoura Fares; MK Dr. Yossi Beilin (Meretz) and Bir Zeit University Professor and peace activist Nazmi El Jebeh.

All speakers mentioned the urgency of bringing both leaderships to the negotiations table in order to endorse a final-status solution to end the conflict and create a two state solutions along the parameters detailed in the Geneva Accord.
