GI regional leadership conference in Even Yehuda |
27.05.2010 The event, which was covered by local press, brought together a panel from contrasting sides of the political spectrum including Col (Ret.) Shaul Arieli, Minister Yossi Peled (Likud), MK Haim Oron (Meretz) and former Palestinian Authority minister Ashraf al-Ajarm. The speakers addressed over 120 people, outlining the prospects and perils of the peace process, and the different policy options which face Israel and the Palestinians. Amos Azani discussed how imperative it is that people get information from sources other than the media. Minister Yossi Peled spoke of his support of the Geneva Initiative and stated that "the conflict will be resolved under the premise of two states for two peoples, with a Palestinian state along side the Jewish state". Additionally, he said the only way the conflict could be resolved is through sitting and talking with neighbors, despite the inevitability of disagreements.
