30.05.2010 The event brought together a panel from contrasting sides of the political spectrum including Col (Ret.) Shaul Arieli, MK Shlomo Madmon (Likud), former Knesset Member and GI Co-Architect Yossi Beilin, and former Palestinian Authority Minister Sufian Abu-Zaida. The speakers addressed about 100 municipal officials, business leaders, and senior position holders of the city, outlining the prospects and perils of the peace process, and the different policy options which face Israel and the Palestinians. Former Palestinian Authority Minister Sufian Abu-Zaida spoke of Mahmoud Abbas's and senior Fatah members' support for the Geneva Initiative. Yossi Beilin discussed the priniples of the GI, stating it is proof that it is possible for parties who want to reach an agreement, to do so. Mayor Yehuda Ben Hemo said the moment Prime Minister Netanyhu declared the need for two states for two peoples, it became clear to him that the way to reach a solution is with discussions between both sides.
