Participants of the Seminar

Participants discussed the coverage trends of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on both sides as well as the implications the reporting has on the conflict and the efforts to resolve it. Special emphasis was given to the difficulties both sides face in covering the conflict and possible measures that can be taken by the media to present more comprehensive reports. Participants also discussed the possible role of journalists in trying to bring a solution to the current deadlock situation.

The seminar included lectures by Prof. Yoram Peri, Head of The Chaim Herzog Institute for Media, Politics and Society; Gadi Baltiansky, Director-General of Geneva Initiative and Former Press Secretary of PM Ehud Barak; Nidal Foqaha, Director-General of the Palestinian Peace Coalition/GI; Walied Omary, Bureau Chief of the Al Jazeera Network Satellite Channel in Palestine and Mr. Hani Al-Massri, Senior Columnist for Al-Ayyam and Al-Hayat newspapers.

Participants were also addressed by Mr. Sedat Onal, Head of the Middle East department in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, who presented the Turkish point of view regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
