GI seminar for young leaders in the Gaza Strip |
On Thursday, August 9th, the Palestinian Peace Coalition-GI convened a seminar in the Gaza Strip entitled "Palestinian Youth between Hope & Ambition." The seminar, which is the first by PPC-GI since Hamas control over Gaza Strip, was attended by several heads and members of youth organizations and associations, as well as some 60 young leaders.
The seminar, held at the "Youth Coalition Society" in Jabalya, addressed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, proposing several ideas on ways out of the current crisis. Further, the seminar tackled the obstructions and obstacles that face Palestinian youth organizations, as well as Palestinian youths in general. The seminar came out with the following recommendations: 1 – The need to support youth issues, mainly youths' right to take part in the decision making process. 2 - Development of youth pressure groups to work on following up the process of enacting laws pertaining to youths. 3 - Formation of an institutionalized youth network to liaise between the various youth organizations. 4 - Intensifying youth meetings and workshops to discuss the latest developments and encourage youths to make their voices heard. 5 - Urge civil society organizations to take teir role of supporting Palestinian youth for the sake of overcoming the prevailing despair, and creating incentives to urge youth to participate in building a viable Palestinian state. |
