HM King Abdullah II Meets GI Palestinian Delegates in Jordan |
On April 16th, HM King Abdullah II met a group of senior Palestinian Geneva Initiative Signatories in an effort to push forward the stalled peace process in the Middle East.
H.M the King urged Palestinians to work together with their counterparts in Israel to convince the region's silent majority of the importance of peace for present and future generations. King Abdullah spoke against further unilateral steps and condoned the construction of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories as significant obstacles to peace. The Palestinian delegation briefed His Majesty and the Jordanian officials on their efforts at the level of civil society to push for the Arab Peace Initiative. Praising His Majesty's speech before the congress in March, in which Geneva Initiative was positively referred to, the Palestinian delegates requested that HM King Abdullah continue to proceed with his efforts for peace.
The Palestinian delegation also met with the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ilah Al Khateeb, Head of Intelligence Mohammed Dahabi and Director of H.M Office Dr. Bassem Awadallah.
