Joint meeting for GI staffs in Jerusalem |
On Sunday, August 5th, the staffs of the Geneva Initiative headquarters in Tel Aviv and Ramallah (PPC) met at the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem.
The two teams brainstormed ideas for future joint Israeli-Palestinian activities as follow-ups to several successful joint seminars held in recent months. Among these activities was the young leadership/student seminar held in Jordan in July, in which Israelis and Palestinians gathered to learn negotiation methods and discussed issues relating to the political situation in the region.
At the meeting, PPC Director-General Nidal Fuqaha listed common goals for both headquarters. Mr. Fuqaha spoke of the need to hold joint events addressing specific target audiences. Israeli Geneva Initiative Director General Gadi Baltiansy listed additional goals, including addressing Israeli decision makers.
Next, the two teams discussed possible future activities and their agenda. The teams decided that future activities will include three seminars: A follow-up seminar for young leadership and political activists, a joint seminar for young journalists, and a seminar for young leaders who have yet to partake in other Geneva Initiative seminars. Another planned activity is a conference for Israeli and Palestinian mayors.
