Meeting with the Head of the PLO General Delegation to the United States

  On March 22nd, Yossi Beilin, the Israeli Chairperson of the Geneva Initiative, met with the Head of the PLO General Delegation to the United States, Ambassador Husam Zomlot. The two talked about the peace process, Palestinian diplomacy and the role of the Geneva Initiative in promoting the two state solution.

Conference in Gaza

On March 21st, the Palestinian Peace Coalition-Geneva Initiative held a public conference on the current political situation and future scenarios in Gaza. The conference was attended by over 100 political figures, legal experts, university students, representatives of youth groups and activists from various political parties.

After the Palestinian-Israeli Seminar in Beijing: a Follow-up meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Israel

What should China's role in the Middle East Peace Process be? And how can its engagement with the local civil society help promote a peace agreement? These were the topics of yesterday’s meeting between the Chinese ambassador and the Israeli members of the Palestinian-Israeli delegation to Beijing, co-organized by the Chinese embassy and the Geneva Initiative last December.

Engaging Israeli Youth in the Peace Discourse

On March 8th, the Israeli Director of the Geneva Initiative, Gadi Baltiansky, met with a group of young Israeli trainees at the Ha-Negev Preparatory Program, a pre-military program located in southern Israel. After a presentation on the history of peace negotiations and proposed solutions to the conflict, the group discussed Israel’s future and their own role as young leaders in shaping a more peaceful society.

Briefing a Danish Parliamentary Delegation

  On March 4th, Gadi Baltiansky, the Israeli Director of the Geneva Initiative, briefed the Danish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee as part of their visit to the region. Baltiansky focused on the current deadlock in the peace process, and the role that international actors like Denmark can play in encouraging the parties to reignite negotiations.

Building the capacity of young Palestinian leaders from Bethlehem

In early March, the Palestinian Peace Coalition-Geneva Initiative held a two-day capacity-building seminar for young Palestinian leaders. It included lectures, open discussions and a field visit to certain relevant locations in Bethlehem, and stressed the role of youth in the social, democratic and political life in Palestine.

Seminar for young female leaders from Ramallah

On February 15-16, 27 young female leaders took part in a Geneva Initiative two-day Capacity Building Seminar. The seminar focused on recent political developments in the region, the Palestinian political system and particularly the role of women in the political and public life in Palestine. The Participants heard from a series of lecturers and practiced their communication skills, public speaking, negotiation techniques and community organization.

Briefing Israeli Youth across the Country

On February 3rd, Geneva Initiative senior board member Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Giora Inbar gave a talk at pre-military program for youth in Northern Israel. The talk, which was attended by young Israelis from across the country, focused on the GI solutions to core issues of the conflict. Inbar stressed that a negotiated peace agreement based on the two-state solution is key to a safe and secure Israel.

The Geneva Initiative visit to Ohio State University

  In January, Gadi Baltiansky, the Geneva Initiative’s Israeli Director, was invited by Ohio State University to give a series of lectures for students and academic staff. Baltiansky spoke about lessons from previous rounds of peace talks, and what the Geneva Initiative does today – locally and internationally - to promote the two-state solution.
