Geneva Initiative Director General Gadi Baltiansky welcomes the participants

Here are some highlights from the conference:

"The association of the words peace and agreement with one of the shrinking tribes within the Israeli public is a huge curse that we have to deal with. We must not present a solution to the conflict with the Palestinians as a zero sum game. Instead, we need to emphasize the hope it would bring for the future of all Israelis."

MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid)

MK Eitan Cabel (Zionist Camp) said: We are fighting for Zionism against the fear mongering of Netanyahu. We must present the real fear: what will happen if we do not reach an agreement with the Palestinians.

Chairperson of Meretz Zahava Galon: “The challenge of the peace camp is to connect all of the opposition parties (aside from Yisrael Beitenu) into one front which will fight against the policy of this government. Netanyahu does not intend to make progress with the peace process and we need to be braver in our statements, including support for international recognition of a Palestinians state.”

Brig. Gen. (res.) Inbar called on Israel to initiate a policy based on three elements: genuine negotiations on the principles of the Geneva Initiative, regional cooperation against mutual threats and full reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in exchange for a long term ceasefire.
