Dr. Riyad Al-Malki, Palestinian Foreign Minister, stressed in an interview with the Ma'an news agency that September is a strategic move not to be withdrawn from. He warned against not going to the United Nations: "If we do not turn to the UN now, we should expect an international agreement that will leave no Palestinian lands on which to build our country."

Dr. Al-Malki addressed American opposition to the UN move: "We will try to draft a resolution to fit the view of most countries, including the U.S., and will coordinate the wording with all countries." Referring to efforts to return to the negotiating table, "currently there are American and European efforts that attempt to meet our aspirations, and we expect that. But even if such a formula will be delivered, we will not retreat from September."
