Palestinian Peace Coalition - Seminars for Women

 

In March the Palestinian Peace Coalition – Geneva Initiative (PPC-GI) ran two seminars for women which were attended by over 90 female activists in Luban, Nablus and Abu Shkhedem, Ramallah.

 

Ms Fatina Abboud, the PPC-GI Program Manager told the participants: "We need to work hard to transform the present traditional female stereotypes into real progressive ones." She briefed the participants on the work of the PPC-GI, and its efforts to promote a two state vision for ending the occupation, solve the Israeli Palestinian conflict and promote a culture of peace amongst Palestinians.

At the Abu Shkhedem seminar, Ms. Shadia Ladadweh, a member of the local council spoke about the challenges that she had faced as a woman in political life. She assured the participants that they too could take a more active role and work cooperatively for the good of the society.

Ms. Raifeh Samara, Head of the Women's Organization in Luban encouraged the seminar participants to "take an active part in the Palestinian social fabric". She added that Palestinian women should work hard to promote the two state solution in order to end the Israeli -Palestinian conflict and to support the Palestinian leadership in the political process.
