GI political seminar on the role of women in politics |
16.05.2010 GI Palestine held a workshop in Ramallah focused on peace building by strengthening the role of women in the political process.
The event, which targeted about 35 young women, included several activities that aimed to improve the participant's skills in dialogue, negotiation, and communication.
The speakers emphasized the need for women to take an active role in making a change to ensure representation in political parties and civil society, especially in unions, business, and social movements.
Diversity was mentioned as a fundamental element of the culture of peace. In interactive discussions, participants were able to talk about how to develop peace building skills through communication and mutual acceptance. Participants stressed the importance of education in the process of building a culture of peace and the need for optimism to move forward.
