On Sunday, July 8th, GI representatives were hosted in Sderot by Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal several hours after a Qassam rocket landed meters away from the meeting place.
During the evening, a discussion was held at the Sapir College in Sderot with the participation of Mayor Eli Moyal and a panel of experts and official position holders including Mr. Alon Schuster, Head of the Negev Regional Council; Professor Ze'ev Tzahor, President of Sapir College; Mr. Zohar Avitan, Head of the Pre-Acadmic School at the Sapir College and Col. (Res.) Shaul Arieli. The Palestinian perspective was conveyed both to the panelists and to the audience by Palestinian Peace Coalition Board Member Mr. Elias Zananiri.
During the debate Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal said he would be willing to speak to Hamas officials - a message which made breaking news headlines on Israel's leading online news portal.
