Seminar and tour for Russian-Israeli journalists and activists

On the 29-30 August the Geneva Initiative ran a seminar for a group of Russian-Israeli journalists and activists

 

The seminar was organized together with the organization Our Heritage - the charter for democracy and was held at Kibbutz Tzuba. During the seminar the participants heard lectures on the history of the conflict, the security issues and the solutions presented by the Geneva Initiative.
 
The participants also met with former Palestinian Minister for Prisoner Affairs and Gaza resident Hisham Abed el-Razek who emphasised that the Palestinian Authority supported meetings like these between Israelis and Palestinians: "they are the only way to get past the ignorance on both sides and to engage in dialogue."

The group also watched the final episode of Dror Moreh's documentary series the Gatekeepers in which five former heads of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) discuss their service and the need to end the occupation.
 
On the Friday, the group where joined by additional participants for a tour of the Jerusalem envelope. The tour was led by Col. (res.) Shaul Arieli, and gave participants a firsthand look at the reality of the conflict on the ground, border issues, and solutions proposed by the Geneva Initiative.
