Seminar and Tour for Young Israeli Journalists

On March 3 and 4, the Geneva Initiative hosted a seminar in Jerusalem for young Israeli journalists, including members of the religious and Russian-speaking media.

The seminar, organized in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Siftung, was attended by more than 15 young Israeli journalists, including some from the religoius and Russian-speaking media.

The two-day event kicked off with a tour demonstrating the Geneva Initiative solution to the issue of borders in the Jerusalem Envelope area guided by Brigadier General (Ret.) Ilan Paz, former Head of Civil Administration for the West Bank and Jordan Valley.

Afterwards, Dr. Lars Haensel, Representative of the Konard Adenauer Stiftung in Jerusalem, and Ms. Gilly Harpaz, Spokesperson of the Geneva Initiative welcomed participants.

Dr. Sufian Abu Zaida, Senior Member of Fatah and Former PA Minister led a conversation on "The Palestinian Position further to Recent Events." This was followed by a lecture by Nir Hefetz, Former Media Adviser to PM Netanyahu, on "The Conflict and the Media – Perspective from the Prime Minister's Office."

The following moring, Mr. Robert Silverman, Political Counselor from the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, offered a lecture on international perspectives on the conflict. Dr. Yossi Beilin, GI Co-Architect and Former Minister of Justice, discusesd the Influence of the media on the conflict.

Gadi Baltiansky, GI Israel's Director General and Former Press Secretary to PM Ehud Barak, sat on a panel with settler leader Adi Mintz, Member of Board of Directors at Yesha council and former Director of Yesha Council. The two discussed alternatives for solving the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

The event concluded with discussion and feedback.
