Conference: Lessons from Other Conflicts

On September 18th, the Geneva Initiative held a conference on “Lessons from other Conflicts” in Jerusalem.
The conference featured Cyprus expert Dr. Harry Tzimitras, who heads the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) in Cyprus; Northern Ireland expert and conflict management practitioner Ariel Heifetz Knobel; and Prof. Zohar Kampf from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who specializes in communication, conflicts and peace.
The event was attended by some 150 people who came from across the country to hear what the experts think that Israelis and Palestinians can learn from other conflicts around the world – ones that were successfully resolved as well as ones that still endure. The key to learning from the experiences of others, it was suggested, is to understand that while every conflict is unique, at the end they can all be solved.
