The Palestinian Authority states its opposition to violence and denounces it.

Ramallah, Beit Jala: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said that he condemns and opposes all manner of violence, directed against civilians, whatever the causes. He said this against the background of the event in Itamar.

The President also noted that "violence does not generate anything but more violence, and what you need is to rush to find a just and comprehensive solution to the conflict."

Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad, for his part, said that "there should be no doubt about our position with regard to violence, because we oppose it absolutely."

Fayyad went on to say yesterday during a ceremony laying the cornerstone for a building belonging to the Municipality of Beit Jala: "Indeed, I say this in light of what happened the night before the settlement of Itamar, and the victims of father, mother and three children, just as we have said time and time again about violence against us: we are opposed to such violence and will prevent it. " He added that "violence does not justify violence, and we oppose it, whatever the causes, perpetrators, targets or victims."
