The role of the international community and the issue of settlements discussed at GI Tel Aviv offices

On Tuesday, November 30, the Geneva Initiative held an additional session for the third cycle of our advanced political course on the conflict. The session featured two speakers.

The first part of the briefing was delivered by Adv. Talia Sasson and dealt with the issue of settlements. Talia is the author of the Sasson Report on Settlements and Illegal Outposts commissioned by the Sharon Government.

Following this addresses, participants were briefed by Daniel Safran Hon from the UNSCO offices in Jerusalem. Daniel spoke about the history of the UN and its role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The advanced course on the conflict is taught by the Geneva Initiative to leaders and political position-holders from the Likud, Kadima, Labor and Shas parties. The course convenes every two weeks for the duration of 5 months and deals with different issues relating to the conflict and the peace process. 40 participants took part in this briefing, in which both sessions allocated time for Q&A and enabled a lively discussion.
