Tour for New Knesset Members

In mid June the Geneva Initiative organized a tour of the greater Jerusalem area for new Members of Knesset
The Members of Knesset came from two parties in the coalition and two parties in the opposition and the tour was led by Col. (res.) Shaul Arieli and highlighted the situation on the ground and possible solutions.

MKs on the tour: Yoav Ben-Tzur (Shas), Manuel Trajtenberg (Zionist Camp), Zouheir Bahloul (Zionist Camp),
Eyal Ben-Reuven (Zionist Camp), Ksenia Svetlova (Zionist Camp), Michal Rozin (Meretz),
Merav Ben-Ari (Kulanu), Yossi Yonah (Zionist Camp) and Col. (res.) Shaul Arieli

The MK's summed up their experiences after the tour:

MK Zouheir Bahloul (Zionist Camp): "The Geneva Initiative is a realistic toolkit. It is in essence a sober and sane initiative"

MK Merav Ben Ari (Kulanu) summed up her experience: "We just finished a fascinating tour with the Geneva Initiative, we which allowed me to see the issues relating to East Jerusalem up close, to see what everyone is talking about."

MK Michal Rozin: “Naftali Bennet and the extreme right are living in a science fiction movie. That is the feeling I came out with after a Geneva Initiative tour of the greater Jerusalem area. Bennet’s plan to annex Area C would break the Palestinians into 187 separate blocs (!) which could be solved in the eyes of the crazy right by investing tens of billions in bridges and tunnels.

Today more than ever, it is clear that to retain a Jewish-democratic state we have to end the occupation. We cannot be frightened by the threats of the extreme right, and we have to understand that real security will be achieved only after the Palestinians have an established state. We cannot stop the struggle - the solution is achievable and could be around the corner.”
