Yasser Abed Rabbo: King Abdullah's mention of Geneva Accord of special importance

By Jordan News Agency, 08.03.07

Amman, March7(Petra)— Secretary of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Yasser Abd Rabu said in his speech before the US Congress joint session on Wednesday, His Majesty King Abdullah made it clear that this could be last opportunity to relaunch a serious and real peace process.
The King's speech was impressive and carried direct meanings with a clear message that this could be the last opportunity for relaunching a serious peace process and the Arabs would be ready for this process provided that it is based on the Arab peace initiative," Abd Rabbo said in press remarks. Basically, the initiative ensures the establishment of a viable Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and a just solution for the refugee issue.
Abd Rabu said the speech, which referred to Geneva accord and Taba negotiations, had a special importance, since these documents were not issued by the Arabs or the Palestinians alone but with Israeli partners known for their influence and heavy weight in the Israeli society.
The speech, said Abd Rabbo, indicated that no party should hide behind the pretext that there was no Palestinian or Arab peace partner.” The American and Israeli partnership is questionable and is being tested now," said the Palestinian official.
